I just wanted to do a quick post. Over the past couple of days, I spent some time applying more texture to the left side of the face with the focus on detailing plus enhancing the pore structure and pattern. Very time consuming because the work is all done with small modelling tools.
Nonetheless, I thought it was sufficiently different to merit another post.
I'll be back soon with some studio updates. Take care.

Skin Texture Hyper Realistic Reconstructed Sculpture #7 Part 2

I thought it was a good opportunity to check up on the progress of Hyper Realistic Reconstructed Sculpture #7 otherwise known as RM.

Most of the changes on the right side of the face have to do with increasing the depth in the texture itself.
What I'm referring to is applying greater definition to the pore structure as well as the areas of transition.

On the left side of the face you'll notice that skin texture is less defined because this part of the sculpture has not received as much attention but that will change dramatically over the next few days.

I'm still hoping to complete RM over the next few weeks. We'll see what happens.
In the meantime, I'm also continuing work on the Robot moulds for the artist and designer
Matthew Del Degan plus two other artists as well with whom I'll will talk about soon.
Anyway, I hope to return with a new post at the end of this week perhaps with a new update on RM or some other studio happening.
Finally, I wish all of my visitors that the rest of your week is good and productive. Cheers.

Jesus Under Construction

Photo by Art Di Lella  2012                   Artist  Greg Furmanczyk 2012
Over the past few days, I've been working on a second cast of The Crucified Christ by the artist Greg Furmanczyk. The images shown in this post are of the plaster cast still being worked upon.
I always liked pictures showing process especially when the remnants or the casting artifacts are still present.

This casting will be completed by Monday and then the artist will complete the finishing.

In other news, the updates this week will focus on other studio projects plus another installment of Hyper Realistic Reconstructed Sculpture series.
I wish you all a great week. Cheers.

Robot Moulds

I'm back again with some pictures of a project that I'm working on for the artist and designer
Matthew Del Degan. These are images of a series of moulds that I have constructed of a robot which will be cast in concrete.
The moulds are designed to allow the artist to produce multiples. It's a surprisingly involved project because the robot itself is actually cast in separate parts which will be put together later.

The final image is of the robot head and torso original on top of the base and foot mould.  The torso section is the last part to be  moulded.
In the meantime,I encourage people to visit  Matthew's website to find out more about the robot project and  his other works which encompasses product design, jewelry, industrial design and sculpture.
I'll be back later this week with more studio news. Cheers.

This is the beginning section of the skin texture process for RM although it may appear that parts of the sculpture look completed, it's actually misleading because I've only focused on the right side of the face. But in the meantime,I've been experimenting with the skin texture in different spots on the entire bust  to see which approach is the most appropriate. Right now, I see him as being a young man but not as young as BB #4,perhaps in his thirties.
The application of skin texture is a very gradual process with lots of revisions which will take me a few weeks to complete.
In other studio news,I'm still working on a variety of projects for other artists and I'll be showing those images soon.
Have great weekend. Cheers.

Hi again
I'm back with a post that was promised last week. Today's edition is something that I've done before and that is to take random shots of the different projects that I'm working on.
The first image is my life size figure sculpture of Hyper Realistic Sculpture #1 or Lake Turkana Boy. This work is an ongoing project which started at the beginning of March 2012.
The second  and third image is a collection of beads and a bead making mould that I made for the Toronto designer Markus Uran.
Number four is a picture of the back half of the mould of  " The Crucified Christ" by the artist Greg Furmanczyk.
I'm also working other art pieces as well and that will be the subject of another post.
In the meantime, I'm applying skin texture to Hyper Realistic Reconstructed Sculpture#7 and  hope to have some new images soon.
I will be back later in the week. Cheers.

Review of Clay models and Skulls Part 2

Hello again, I'm still not ready to publish my post on the various studio projects that are currently being done. Instead, I'm presenting the continuation of the Clay Model and Skull series. It's given me a chance to show the skulls and subsequent clay models of the Hyper Realistic Reconstructed series, side by side. I find showing the contrast between the two forms fascinating and hopefully the similarity or relationship can be seen by the viewer.
Anyway,I hope all my visitors have an excellent weekend. I'll be back next week. Take care.

Hyper Realistic Reconsted Sculpture #7 Roughing Clay Model Final

I hope all my visitors had a great weekend. In my last post I had mentioned that I would talk about the various projects that I'm working on for other artists but unfortunately the pictures aren't quite ready so instead I've moved up the post on #7 (robust male) RM. I have finished the roughing out and begun the process of refining the bust.

RM is the most robust character yet. I've begun the skin texture but it's only at a preliminary stage. A post will be likely published on that process sometime next week. I'll see how things evolve.
The studio over the past few weeks has become busier with as I mentioned before a number of unusually challenging jobs to complete.
I will have some new updates later in the week. Cheers.
