Hi, I'm finally back after a long layoff mainly due to illness. I'm much better now and anxious to get back to full speed.
Today, I thought a good subject for a post would be the return of bust #5.

Like the other clay models in this series, very few are clear sailing in terms of being satisfied with the initial results. I always find setting aside a model for a time gives me a chance to view the sculpture with new eyes.
I found this approach works best for me and avoids later disappointment.
My main concerns with this sculpture was not with the face but with neck and shoulders. At the time when this model was near completion, I just didn't feel it was right so when I looked at it again later on I realized that the neck and shoulders needed adjustments. Certainly not radical change but enough to make a difference. I'm also going to make changes to the skin texture as well so there will be further updates on that too.
In the meantime, the studio is getting very busy again so there will be a number of new posts coming soon.
Thank you for your patience. Cheers!
