Just a quick post on my figure. The surgery to connect his new head is still in progress. I just wanted to show the neck muscles as they are the first part in connecting the original body with the new head.

You'll notice that the nasal bones and brow ridge have been repaired with clay. The next stage I'll sketch out the muscles, start building the facial features and by then a face should start to emerge. We'll see how it differs from the original.
I'll be back soon. Have a great week!
Well Art, I'm always so impressed as I went through a series of your last 5 posts. I seems to me that you'd be thrilled to be working with anthropologists as your penchant for detail and authenticity is academic to say the least. Not being a purist myself, I so admire your adherence to excellence in your field.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lorraine.
ReplyDeleteYou are right in saying that I have an interest in science but many of my works(some of them shown on this blog) are parodies of science models. I want this particular figure to be of the same quality as you would find in a science museum but it's final purpose is a contemporary art statement. This will be revealed when the figure is completed.
Thanks for explaining that Art. I should have figured that out by now but I will give you credit for subtlety in your irony, another sign of your "True Wit".
