Hello everyone,  Unfortunately I haven't  been able to post recently because of a bout of the flu.

The good news is that I'm on the mend and I'm working on some new images. I'll be back shortly.

Barbara came into the studio this morning and did a series of random shots of some of the different projects that I'm engaged. It gives a small glimpse of how I work. It's a process of going back and forth working on several things at once, adjusting LTB then switching to Taline's sculptures, afterwards working on a retail display then back to making several little silicone moulds and so on. It's extremely rare that I'm able to work on one piece at a time because many of my clients don't come at predictable intervals and also their projects vary so much that many of the tasks involved aren't replicated from job to job.  It certainly isn't boring.

Anyway, I should be back at the end of this week. Have a great work week. Cheers.

Hyper Realistic Reconstructed Figure Sculpture #1 Lake Turkana Boy * Special Topic Feet

This week I've been working on a number of different fronts.
I've been building a retail display for my partner Barbara, moulding and casting a Geisha model for a local model making company, moulding several sculptures for the Toronto sculptor Taline Iskedjian and prepping to make more robot moulds for Matthew Del Degan.
While doing all of this I'd managed to find a few minutes here and there to do sculpting and applying texture to the feet of my Homo Erectus sculpture LTB.

Feet have amazing complexity both in form and skin texture. The texture varies considerably from the toes having largely just creases to the mid section of the foot with it's complex cross hatching  to finally the heel which has a combination of random deep creases with very fine parallel lines below which connect to the bottom of the feet.
Even though the feet are mostly complete, the rest of the figure including the head are still going through some further revisions. All part of the back and forth process I go through when I sculpt.

Also, I'm hoping to find some time over the next few weeks to return to Hyper Realistic Reconstructed Sculpture #2 YW. Remember her.

Anyway, I will be back soon. Take care.

Introduction of Hyper Realistic Reconstructed Sculpture #8

It's a new month and it's time to introduce the final subject in this series:  Hyper Realistic Reconstructed Sculpture #8.

The individual shown is an adult female probably young and really small.  Her skull is not much larger than the child in this series, Hyper realistic Reconstructed Sculpture #6.
I'm looking forward to building this new clay reconstruction. Another young female in this group of busts,it should be an interesting comparison with #2.
In the meantime, I still have to build the armature for this skull but that will have to come at a later date.
Finally, I"ll be returning next week with a couple of new posts as I'm working on a number diverse projects and it will need two or perhaps more postings to catch up with all the news.
Take care and have a great weekend.
